In the wake of Ted Kennedy dying I hope people are not taking their eye off the ball . I did not agree with Kennedy on many things , but this Is not the time to bring It up and I refuse to disparage the memory of anybody of his magnitude . I want to talk about a new public enemy , a man whom as far as I am concerned Is turning his back on the country he Is sworn to serve . I am talking about Attorney General Eric Holder . It seems obvious to me that Eric Holder Is far more concerned with partisan politics then with the security of his own nation . Do not even try to tell me that this guy Is doing the right thing . I do not buy that for a minute . He Is obviously more sympathetic to Khalid Sheikh Mohammed then he Is to the citizens of this country . As far as I am concerned he should be prosecuted for not looking out for the welfare of the public at large.
A brief history of Eric Holder
Atty General Eric Holder was born In the Bronx on January 21st 1951 . He Is currently ( and I hope not for long ) the 82nd Atty General of the US . He graduated from Columbia University with a degree In law In 1976 . He then served on the Dept of Justice new Public Integrity Section from 1976 to 1988 . (WTF Is that ? ) Apparently lessons In Integrity were lost on him somewhere along the line . Then Ronald Reagan appointed him a Superior Court Judge In the Dist of Columbia In 1988 . Holder stepped down from the bench In 1993 to join Bill Clinton as a US Attorney . Then Eric Holder stepped Into the Position of Deputy Attorney General after the retirement of Jaime Gorelick.

A little sidebar about Jaime Gorelick
Jaime Gorelick was Deputy Attorney General under Janet Reno for the Clinton Administration In 1994 . Jaime Gorelick created what was called the "Wall of Separation " between the FBI and the CIA In1995 , easily one of the STUPIDEST things that was ever Implemented as both had Information on a couple of guys named Muhammed Atta and Zacarius Moussaoui . If those names do not ring a bell with you , I will get you up to Speed , Muhammed Atta flew the first plane Into the Twin Towers , and Zacarius Massaoui was the 19th guy on the 9-11 team . Do you think we would be living In a different world If Gorelick had not Instituted that policy ? I do not think I should have to ask you ! And If that Is not bad enough , she was then nominated by Tom Daschle to be Vice Chair of Fannie Mae with no finance or Real Estate experience whatsoever .. She served on that board as Vice Chair from 1997 to 2003 . And Implemented many of the policies that have us In the current condition that we now find ourselves In . And If that was not bad enough then she was elected to the (quote-unquote) non partisan 9-11 commission that Investigated what went wrong on our security . You do not think this lady was sandbaggin on that Investigation ? This woman has done more damage to America then the Dustbowl era . So excuse me If I do not think to highly of her !
For a Harvard Graduate this woman Is dumber then a box of rocks !!!
Lets get back to Eric though !
Now a little bit more Info on Eric here . Eric Holder was Influential In Bill Clintons decision to reduce the sentences of 16 members of an orginization called the " Boricua Popular Army " an orginization that was recognized as a Terrorist Unit by the FBI . This clemency was opposed by then US Pardons Attorney Margeret Love . In July 1999 Holder recommended Clemency for the group and a month later Clinton granted the Clemency In spite of opposition from the FBI , the Federal Prosecutor and the victims . Before the commutations not one member of the Popular Army were required to repudiate their actions or give any Info to the FBI In regards to their co conspirator "Victor Manuel Gerena " a man on the FBIs Ten most wanted list . Now excuse me how did this guy qualify to be the number one Law Enforcement Officer of this Country ?
Not to mention the fact that Holder was hired through his law firm In Illinois by none other than Rod Blagojevich to as a special Investigator of the Illinois gaming board because Blago was concerned that a 4-1 vote put up by the board to allow a Rosemont Illinois casino to be built . But Blago was concerned that one of the principles In the construction of that casino had ties to organized crime . Talk about the pot calling the kettle black !!!
Also Mr Holder Is convinced that you have absolutely no right to own a gun . And he argued this with passion In " DC vs Heller " In 2008 . He basically was bastardizing the 2nd amendment as his argument . Now I will tell you I do not like guns nor do I own one . But I will damn sure fight for your constitutional right to own one ! Mr Holder wants Guantanamo shut down , without any forethought of where we are gonna put these guys .
Also one last little nugget of Info that might Interest you . Mr Holder had to recuse himself when the United States went after Swiss Bank UBS AG for reasons not elaborated upon as they were accused of US Tax Fraud but not before he met with Eveline Widmer Schlumpf the Swiss Minister of Justice In March of this year . I sure would have like to have been a fly on the wall at that meeting . Because I am no Detective but somethin don,t smell right here !
And now he wants to prosecute guys who on record blew Cigar smoke In the face of Abd al Rahim al -Nashiri whom If you are not familiar with that name was the mastermind of the 9-11 attacks . This Is documented folks . This Is not conjecture . What an outrage huh ? Second hand smoke vs killing 3000 . Get real man !!! Oh and they used a gun as a prop , the nerve of these SOB s !! Where Is the compassion huh ? All this was documented on Cybercast News and the Drudge Report. . I guess we have to give them therapy , a decent hamburger and a session or two with Dr Laura according to Mr Holder . You say we would sink to their level If we do that ?
Got news for you , when we are fighting terrorism you gotta get your hands dirty. Excuse me If I have no sympathy for people who want nothing more then to see us all burn . You people calling for these Investigations are the same people who wanted Dubyas head after 9-11 .
Well guess what ? Bill Clinton had Osama bin Laden In his crosshairs In the late 90s and did not pull the trigger . You do not think It would be a different world If he had ? And may I say this was Immediately after the USS Cole was bombed and 2 of our embassies . But I forgot we should show these guys some compassion . And Mr Holder you are a wuss !!! Fishskinfreak trust me when I say that I was no fan of Ashcroft . I will say this In Holders defense he was opposed to the patriot act . As am I . Talk about erosion of civil rights ! And nowadays I dread the thought of going through the airport as a result . But Holder has only been In for 6 months so this story Is not complete yet . Seriously though, I did used to work in a government agency, and I did think it was stupid that they didn't communicate openly with other agencies about the people involved. They are working together toward a common goal. They should be open with each other.
When egos get involved and power struggles ensue, it always ends in disaster!

We've gone back to pre-September 11th thinking Tony, where the war on terror is being treated like a crime. This is exactly why they were able to hit us. Now Obama has taken the responsibility of interrogating captured terrorists out of the hands of the CIA, and given it to the F.B.I. Remember how Clinton sent in the F.B.I after the attacks on our embassies in Africa, and the USS Cole? And look what happened a few months later--911.
This is exactly why I want my friends and family still serving in Afghanistan and Iraq out of there. Obama--this weak, limp-wisted, college basketball coach-looking fool, has no idea the enemy we face, and neither does this idiot Eric Holder.
The good news--Zogby now has Obama's approval numbers at 45%, and Zobgy is a Democrat.

Thanks for the heads up on this hub tony, I try and catch as many as I can but some slip through the cracks! You would have thought after the communication breakdown during operation urgent fury the government would have learned a lesson about communication between agencies, the military did! Holder is a class A scumbag who was instrumental in the pardon of Mark Rich by Bill Clinton, he obviously never met a bad guy he disliked. But don't think that Obama is not calling the shots on this, he is! He knows his days of unconditional love from the public is over and wants to try and get his poll numbers back up a little. Good expose' on Holder tony0724. We've got a crowd of very dangerous clowns in Washington right now. Holder's comment about Americans being cowards is just one of the multitude of over-the-top comments coming out of Washington that should cause every supporter of Obama to reverse themselves. That won't happen.

I knew much of this but you have added to my knowledge. My HATRED for this administration grows daily. If you haven't, please watch Glenn Beck on FOX. He lays things out better than anyone I've seen.
Holder is very scary, but one thing sickens me. Like myself, he is from "THE BRONX." So is Sotomayor and a couple of other's. Growing up I never knew people (especially intelligent one's, ha) like this. I must have been sheltered.

I remember President Obama saying we should move on from these investigations. A few weeks later Holder announces the new investigations. I have a question, who is the dog and who is the tail? A fine exercise in plausible denyability?

Tony, great blog and amazing research. There's a lot of information I had been unaware of. However, with my Libra rising, I always have a tendency to look at both sides of the coin. I think of Holder as being a little anal when it comes to the U.S. constitution. No gray area and has a very strict interpretation. When it comes to Cheney's interpretation of the Guantanamo prisoners factor I feel a little reluctant to accept his word. It is difficult to say whether we should allow our government to break the laws of the Geneva Convention. Could we have accomplished the same thing without torture? There are those who say we got the most critical information prior to torture; and then Cheney says torture produced that information. Its hard to know who to believe. What power is given to future administrations if they follow the Bush Administration example? You can break all the laws you want and you can get away with it? Hopefully, if this goes forward, we will know who to believe and America might restore its credibility.

Hi friend! I have no strong opinion on Mr. Holder yet. I do agree separating CIA and FBI was the boneheadiest move evvah (well, maybe right up there with putting "Brownie" on the job with Katrina. Quel nightmare).
Goes to show there are stupid decisions and policies made in EVERY administration. I think it comes with the political territory!
BTW, please don't knock people from the Bronx! My Dad (God rest his soul) and my son's father (God rest his soul too) were both from The Bronx. Back in the day it was a really cool Borough of NYC.

Pardon my, not so Christian french, but I think the Chargers got screwed when they played the Steelers about five years ago. A couple of really bad calls went the way of the golden boys.
Actually, not to take anything away from the pass and catch that ended last year's Super Bowl, I believe the Steelers got lucky and the Cardinals at the time were more athletic almost position for position.
But your Chargers are one of my favorite teams.

Tony I agree with the premise of your take on Holder, but in the discussion and comments there seems to be a real slide towards an "ends justifies the means" mentality, which I think was Ashcroft's credo. Not a good thing. And separating the CIA and FBI is not a bad thing, barring them from communicating and cooperating is a bad thing. Remember J. Edgar Hoover, or Nixon? Holder can do a lot of damage to our country, but he's not doing it alone. Everywhere I look in the Obama administration I keep seeing images of "The Star Chamber" or the "Wizard of Oz" Just because I'm paranoid doesn't mean they aren't out to get me.
Appletree I am a bit concerned that he Is more concerned with the welfare of terrorist then he Is of the welfareof the USA . After all this Is the country he Is supposed to watch out for ! And calling Americans cowards did not endear him to me either.It just seems to me that If the FBI and the CIA had shared Intelligence , Muhammed Atta Is behind bars and not part of the history books .

Tony, speaking to the issue, not the man, (I don't like/trust him either), this is one of those dangerous "slippery slope" issues. All the detainees are labeled "terrorists" but are they? I don't know. I don't believe they are entitled to ALL of our judicial system rights, but are there "moral" justice rights they should be afforded so we can maintain OUR morality as humans? If they ARE terrorists they should have been shot, not jailed. If they are still jailed now, who decided they were terrorist? How long can we jail them without in process of moral justice?
The reason I am making this point is related to the "reward for terrorists" program we are using in Iraq. We pay informants cash for tips on, and identities of, terrorists. Sounds like a good idea, but what are the safe guards against things like vindictive wives or husbands turning in lovers or spouses for the personal benefit of freedom, revenge, and/or cash? Or any of the many human failings that would make someone accuse an innocent person? I know you're not naive enough to believe that couldn't/hasn't happened.
Same thing with Gitmo. Maybe they are all dangerous terrorists, but how are we to know without some kind of process? And unfortunately that process must have a degree of sunlight.
I'm not implying I want to coddle them, read them their rights, and pay for their lawyer. And I don't want them on our soil either. But if our "proof" is so strong that we have jailed them for this many years, then they should have just been shot to start with. If it's not that strong, well, what do we do about it?
We are on that "slippery slope" with this issue. Do you want to support any government that assumes the power to jail you for any reason they say, for as long as they want, without any judicial process?
Unfortunately I think Holder sees this as a clear-cut black and white issue, and he's on the wrong side because this is most definitely a "gray area" issue where black and white are both wrong.
That's why I think he's dangerous, he's not dealing with the realities, he's making decisions based on idealism. And I think you will find most idealists don't like their fellow non-idealists citizens. Which could explain his "Americans are cowards" logic.
Appletree all of those are legitimate questions and I have to give you an honest answer . I do not know . What I do know Is I feel this man does not have our best Interest at heart. I for one would like to err on the side of caution though. I do not mind Idealism , I think It Is a good trait to have . I just think you have to temper that with some common sense too ! Also you are right I am sure about the Informants and the legitimacy of their Intel I am sure . But what other options do we have ?

Ref your last paragraph - I've often thought Clinton's weak response to the 90s terror outrages paved the way to 9/11. Most he ever did was bomb a pharmaceuticals storeroom in Afghanistan if memory serves.
Well we have seen the results of the Inaction now have we not ? We would not even be talking about Afghanistan or Iraq for that matter If the Clinton administration had the balls to do what they should have done !
