I am really proud of Massachusetts today !
60Make no mistake this is a statement !
Like the rest of America I was watching with the upmost of fascination as the events of the election for former Senator Ted Kennedys seat unfolded. And like all of you I had not a clue whom this Individual one Scott Brown was. But as he gained Steam against the sacrificial lamb of the Democratic Party Martha Coakley my Interest grew. As most anybody who is not obsessed with Golden Globe awards and other meaningless pop trash is aware Scott Brown is a Republican in the great commonwealth of Massachusetts. A commonwealth where Democrats hold a ratio of 3 to 1. So for a Republican to take a seat for Senate in Massachusetts where a Republican has not held that seat since 1952 is huge !
Now for starts I am an Independent as I feel both parties have sold us down the river. So you may ask why I have such enthusiasm for a Republican being elected in another state and here is why !
Folks this was not just about healthcare. This is a statement by the commonwealth of Massachusetts that went along teaparty lines. And who knows more about teaparties then Massachusetts ! The commonwealth of Massachusetts reiterated what most of us in America are feeling. And that feeling is disillusionment and being ignored. This was a statement that said we are damn sick and tired of the way business is conducted on Capitol Hill. This is a statement about promises of transparency in healthcare and instead getting an unprecedented amount of backroom deals and another Louisiana purchase in order to get legislation passed. I will say this groundswell of anger did not just start with the current administration , yes this did start with Dubya and the veep and maybe even before that. As American rights have slowly eroded and our way of life has consistently been downgraded over the course of time people were far to comftorable to give a shit ! We had our HDTV and our Sports utility vehicle so no one was paying attention. Now since the end of 2007 that tune has changed.
Now the people of America are paying attention to the way the Hill works and that is long overdue. And I am damn happy that people are getting fed up with the fat cats in DC. We have put both parties and especially the Dems on notice. We the people have let them know that if we do not like the results we are getting that we intend to kick em to the curb ! We the people have used the ballot box and taken some of the power back that belongs to us in the first place ! Good for you Massachusetts. If this was a hurricane it would be a class 5. We just told both parties to get it together today ! And do not think that the Hill has not taken notice ! Every candidate our President has endorsed has lost ! That is a powerful statement. And I really enjoy the fact that Martha Coakley lost so soundly. She had this thing where she just felt entitled to the seat. Most of the Dems are already blaming her for running a lazy campaign and that may be the case. What I do know is it is not good policy to call a local hero a yankee. And make a statement like " What do you want me to do ? Shake hands out in the cold in front of Fenway ?
This type of thinking represents to me the crux of the problem with the career politician . Unabashed arrogance ! And now I take joy in knowing that the buttcheeks of every politician in Washington just got tighter. Will Scott Brown be a great Senator ? I have no Idea. What I do know is he represents what the people of Massachusetts and you and I want. REAL CHANGE ! Good for you Massachusetts ! I cannot think of a better state to start a revolution.
Meet the new Senator folks !

Woo Hoo! That's all I can say! Thank you for writing this hub, Tony. It is great to have the big picture explained so well!
It happened Tony! Another miracle in Massachusetts!!!
see: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7nEoW-P81-0
That's all i'm going to say because you already said everything.
Tea anyone? I think this is great. Hopefully we as Americans will become enlightened and start REAL CHANGE!!!!
Tony - I linked your Hub up to my Facebook page!
God is still on the throne!!
I disagree
It started in November of 2009 but what better way to bring it home than this win tonight. It sure seems like the start of sometjing that can change the politcal scene rather quickly. Not sure if democrats want to commit politcal suicide after experiencing tonight. They may not be so eager to back this administration's agenda. Hopefully we will see a shift to the center once again, but based on the current arrogance, I won't hold my breath.
There are many states waking up to this problem..do you know what Tony? I think you should be doing the news! I come here and get my dose. (pssss..you said the R word) hehehe
I agree with GhostWhisper77 - The Tony Report works for me. I am also an independent (no party) voter who chooses to be swayed by individuals rather than parties, and I agree, Tony, that Massachusetts has spoken through power of the vote.
Tony, Great hub. I think this election made an extremely important message to America. If it can happen in the Boston Tea Party state it can happen everywhere!
Great hub Tony,
I agree with your position. The Massachusetts election was a shot across the bow of all professional politicians. "If you don't listen to WE THE PEOPLE you too will be kicked to the curb!!!!!"
Great Hub. Maybe this will be a shift, but the hubris of the far-left which is driving Obama may continue attempting to ram stuff through. If so, the mid-term elections will be a complete realignment.
Thanks to the people of Massachusetts!!
Don't worry, be happy, but the fight has just begun.. I suggest we all listen to the words of our President, remember, Obama "don't jump to conclusion" The same President who speaks softly and does not even carry a stick!
The same president who has problems dealing with terrorists
slaughtering Americans!
Don't jump to conclusions, folks, we still have a big fight ahead to take back America!
This morning I turned on the news to see who won this senate race. I spent about an hour flipping through ABC, NBC and CBS (I don't have cable). I figured Brown had won since none of them were saying anything about the outcome of the race. Finally, there was a little blip on NBC. Yay Brown!
Tony I was thinking last night that we would probably hear from you this morning! You are so right! It seems like "we the people" are finally waking up and realizing that we can't be complacent any longer. I was watching some coverage last night and a Republican from Wyoming (so sorry, did not write down her name), was talking about what a victory this was. She mentioned that a Democrat had made the comment a while back that,"It's getting harder and harder to pass legislation that the people don't want." Whoever said that should be drawn and quartered in my opinion, but nonetheless, this is a huge victory for sure. I'm almost looking forward to November! Thanks, Tony! Great hub! (BTW, I freakin love "the buttcheeks of every politician just got tighter")
Dear tony,
What a magnificent display of democracy in action. I am thrilled!
There is so much to this. This happened in Mass, a Democratic state. A state which is highly educated. A state that tried government healthcare and do not like it. This say so much.
I just hope they don;t just try to push the senates version through the house. But rather that they re evaluate this and wise up, but it doesn't seem that healthcar is about healthcare, but rather big government and a power grab.
Keep on hubbing!
Tony...Great Hub about a great American victory...we have many battles ahead to derail this progressive train, but this win gives Americans the momentum to continue the good fight and rid our shores of political correctness, government health care, arrogant politicians, and presidents that disrespect our country...Larry
Excellent reportage, my brother. I am extremely satisfied with this result. God Bless America! Land that I love!
Love it Toney! Your hubs are simply awesome! The dems should be greatfull because for the first time in a long time MA will have a real senator. Ted should have been washed up after Chappaquiddick, but they kept voting him in for some reason. Well it looks like they finally got it right!
Steven Randall
He-he, Reps are having a field day LOL
Poor Sweetie Pie, she is roaming around leaving condescending comments to "Obama haters" :D
I bet she will show up here, too :)
Oh Tony, I wish you were right and Reps would save the day. I am afraid it is not the case though, and even when they get to power, they will still continue in the same general direction, just using different ways...
Great hub Tony! I agree you should have your own show and do the national news, but......
Keep on hubbing!
There is a degree of excitement from the message Mass has sent out. Finally, someone has taken a stand and the fact that it was Democrats (now Independents) makes their whole stand more credible. I am an Obama fan with fading hope and after listening to Brown, I had to say I like him. He seems genuine (just like Obama). I wish Obama had the backbone to lead, and that may yet happen. (I hope).
hmmm, I hope He will keep up with the expectation, Peaceful revolt hehe,
I am hardly into politics but when I read your hubs I am enlightened, Thank you and TC, its raining there TONY, Maita
TONY AND FELLOW HUBBERS
Today the president held a town hall meeting in Ohio, He told the attendees that he will keep fighting for jobs and again complained about the banks and wall street.
He didn't tell the people that the only jobs he was fighting for, were union jobs. The unions bought him off with $60 million that they donated to his campaign.
Wake up America, the people in mass sounded the call to let our representatives be fully aware that ''enough is enough''
.
well mass is in the running to be the next red state!!! i love it. as a former mass resident i could never understand why they liked any kennedy. i do remember that joseph was a boot-legger and john continued with the drug trade out of "nam". my mother in law still believes conservatives are a bunch of rich demons. i guess if you are lied to enough you believe it. i started my campaign against liberal people before the presidential campaign was underway. i 2006-7 i wrote to john mccain about the fact he wanted "gitmo" closed. i told him to get back on the conservative side or leave my country. i wrote a congradulation letter to obama and let him know he would be treated as a trespasser if he ever came to my home. i also let sarah palin know i hope to see her on the ballot in 2012 and have condelisa rice there as her vp. i have written every senator and congressman-woman i can and asked one question. why don't we stop paying over $400 billion to illegal aliens per year. imagine, we pay them from social security money and then take away benefits from our seniors. i since found out that it is against the law to pay them, but they still do. hmm, maybe the illegals find a way to vote???
Tony
Let us enjoy the possibility that the Brown win is a spark of intelligence in the voting process, and not just another spooking of the sheep.
Thanks
Great work tony, It is about time something good comes out of Massachusetts besides there incredible sports teams. On a serious not I am ecstatic that people are waking up to the fact that America has voted in a bad dream, spending is grossly out of control, along with everything from cap and trade to there health plan. Thanks for an excellent hub.
As a Massachusetts citizen, I too was very excited. This was a good read.
Round of applause for this hub!
Your rock!
The silent majority is no longer silent! Great hub!

Tony - This is a clear victory for the true and too oft silent Majority in America, The Independents! Our Independent Brothers and sisters in Mass have spoken loudly and clearly, That the Republic, and our Constitution will not go away quietly into the night or be bought or sold away in a closed back room. God Bless the Independents! God Bless America!!
