This guy is disgusting and there is no other word for it.

Nancy Pelosi another piece of slime !

Here is another one I love to hate !
Here is another one I love to hate !

The honorable Congressman enjoying a corporate paid vacation

That damn stupid staff of mine !
That damn stupid staff of mine !

Seriously what does it take to get rid of a crook ?

I wish I was capable of writing about the light and fluffy stuff with lots of pictures with babes in bikinis that seem to generate so much traffic here at hubpages. But I am sorry that is just not my deal. I look at this world and grow ever angrier at what I see. And make no mistake about it , this will probably be an angry hub. But I intend to make you uncomftorable , I intend to make you want to take your head out of the sand and look around and acknowlrdge what all of us know. That we live with a systerm of Government that has become so corrupt and so out of touch with the average person like you and I , that they no longer care about what you and I think or what we want as American citizens.

The earthquake that happened in Chile has dominated the news over the course of the last 24 hours and I have no doubt that if there is any one person who is grateful to have the spotlight taken off of them and on Chile it would be slimeball congressman Charlie Rangel. As was chronicled in the media lately Charlie Rangel was taking vacations to the Carribean on corporate sponsored dollars and violated ethics in a very serious way. A couple of years ago a defense contractor here in San Diego was giving favors left and right to a congressman named Randall "Duke " Cunningham in exchange for prefrential treatment and contracts from the Dept. of Defense. And today Cunningham is sitting in jail , as well he should ! I have no doubt he is probably not hangin with the Homeys but I am glad that he has no say or decision making powers anymore and will forever live a life of shame.

That to me is justice. However Rangel just got admonished by the ethics committee this last Friday for his actions. Admonished ? Is that similar to a stern lecture ? I want his hide ! Charlie Rangel has finally lost the right to have any decision making powers and make policy for the rest of us as far as I am concerned. Not to mention the fact that I have my doubts about how ethical the ethics panel is.

After all the ethics committee did clear 7 lawmakers on Friday for earmarks on no bid contracts to upwards of 40 companies. You know , no harm no foul ! And at least they had the backbone to give Charlie Rangel a stern lecture. But according to Charlie Rangel he was exhonorated. And then had the chutzpah to put all the blame on his staff ! Now talk about not being accountable for your actions ! Nothing like throwing your staff under the bus ! I hope all those young Idealist Interns are really getting a taste of what working in DC is really like now. And of course my favorite whipping horse Nancy Pelosi will do nothing about this , because Charlie is her boy and teammate. And she needs his vote to pass that piece of crap they call healthcare reform. All she will say is that we will see what happens. How is that for leadership ? Is this your hero libs ? And not to mention the fact that this is just the tip of the Iceberg for Charlie Rangel. I forgot to mention the fact that he still has the little matter of not declaring roughly one million dollars in undeclared income that he did not put in his tax forms. But I am sure he just forgot ? Right ? I have been railing on this guy for awhile. I wrote a hub 6 months ago about this guy being the dirty crook that he is !

http://hubpages.com/hub/Charles-Rangel-has-to-be-arrested-and-removed

And I sit here more baffled then ever that he is still in office. I wrote a letter to my congressperson the spineless Susan Davis and all she said was they will wait to see what results from the Investigation. And if present history is an indicator it will be a whole lotta nada. Why do we the people put up with this ? And on top of that the 79 year old congressman has also announced that he will be running for re- election. WTF ? You gotta be kiddin me ! While I am no member of the tea party. I totally support their message that they are sending to the public. And what is that message you ask ? I think I can put that message into the simplest context possible. WE HAVE HAD ENOUGH ! That is there message in a nutshell. And no matter what your party affiliation or Ideology , how can you not agree with this ? I am sorry but anyone who can support the above mentioned as well as several of their cronies seriously need their head examined for brain damage.

Charlie Rangel writes your tax code ! And then of course the rules do not apply to him. All the time I hear the Liberal/ Progressive contingent talk about how the Republicans and how they are in cahoots with the large corporations and they are correct. However when one of their own is exposed for being the liar and cheat that they are , they become strangely muted. And that is another thing that pisses me off ! I look forward to the counter revolution that is taking place in this country. We have not had leaders and statesmen roaming the halls of Capitol Hill in a long long time.

What we have had is a conglomerate of people who exploit the influence that they weild and are constantly for sale if the price is right for their campaign fund. After all when you have a cash cow you gotta milk it for all its worth , right ? I am not affiliated with a political party , I am not a tea party member. ( Sorry Libs ,you can't lump me in with them ) . I am an American citizen and I will continue to rant because my original mission when I joined hubpages was not to write fluff pieces and make lots of money on google adsense. I joined our community to make you uncomftorable and I came here to make you aware. Needless to say day by day the American public is finally waking up as the creature comforts and security we all covet are being reomved in small increments. So folks I am making a small declaration here. Put down your damn latte . Forget about the yoga class. Get active and email your congressperson. Nancy Pelosi was complaing about how the tea party was being monopolized by the GOP. One year ago or a little less she was completely dismissive of the whole movement as a bunch of wackos who needed their ritalin. So you see when you complain loud enough , you get heard ! Make DC hear you !

Yeah, I've had enough of Charlie Rangel, AND I've had more than enough with the unmentioned by name "major corporations" who paid for the little Caribbean holidays for Rangel and his cronies. I don't believe Rangel's assertion that he wasn't aware that the companies were paying the bills, but I'm damn sure that the companies who picked up the tabs were aware of what they were doing, and that's why they disguised their payments through a local Caribbean newspaper. It took me a half-hour Google search to find out who the corporate miscreants were--Pfizer, CitiGroup, Verizon and AT&T and possibly others. A NY Times editorial this morning said Rangel "should give up his gavel" on the powerful House Appropriations Committee, but didn't bother saying that that the "major corporations," (unnamed) should stop bribing our Congressmen with free trips to the Caribbean.

I'm amazed Charlie was even admonished. I have to wonder if there's so much more there, they decided to end it this way and try to protect him. And yes, it was disgusting of him to blame his employees. But that's the way now, and they're all getting away with it.

Sheila sadly you are right about the business as usual policies of Capitol Hill. I however am starting to get a small sense of optimism as the tea party movement is actually starting to get the attention of the empty suits on Capitol Hill. Marco Rubio is making noise in Florida. And a woman named Debra Medina is starting to makle her voice heard in the great state of Texas. And these are the type of Individuals true Conservatives favor. The silent majority I believe has decided to stay silent no longer.

It wasn't Charlie' fault, it was the "big corporations" and his staff's fault. Guess what. He is their boss of his staff, therefore ultimately responsible.

I am glad that the little guy get a privilege once in while. It is very rewarding. The average worker gets upset when they see the big wigs always doing things. The little guys need some rewards every once in a while,

Other thing, I am not sure what exactly what the occasion is, but sometimes it is just part of business to give sponsor things. I know there are all these ethics guidelines, but from my understanding the ethics committee said it was nothing wrong for the staff to participate, but that it was wrong for Rangel to participate. So if it is okay for the staff, it must be okay for the companies to do this. Big business is not always the enemy and the bad guy. We have to be a little careful to judge the other people, but in Rangle's condition, the judgment was passed.

Keep on hubbing!

Tony,

I agree totally with your position on Charlie Rangel, but if history is any judge he'll be re-elected by Harlem just as his predesessor Adam Clayton Powell Jr. was after congress expelled him. The only way we have a chance of getting rid of him is sending him up the river for a long, long time.

tony0724 profile image

Tom I have no problem sending him up the river without a paddle ! And you are right , I have no doubt that the people of his district will likely just follow suit and send back Rangel in spite of the fact he is a criminal !

I like the idea of him in jail ! Thanks for dropping in Tom.

tony0724 profile image

Ralph all of these Ivy league educated people have turned a deaf ear to the constituents they supposedly represent. The result of this is a public that feels disenfranchised. And believe it or not I do not pin all of this on Obama. This has been going on for awhile now. While I certainly have reservations about Palin running the USA , you seem to not recognize the formula of her appeal. And that is the fact that she is far more of a regular person then any of these Harvard educated Individuals that the left loves to proclaim as brilliant. I am completely unimpressed with the highly educated ruling class. And because Palin is more of a regular person then any of the phonys currently residing on the hill, they automatically look down their snobby noses at her and denigrate her unflailingly because she is able to connect with Joe Average. This is a quality most of the Ivy leaguers lack. Because they have no concept of what being a regular person is like. That being said I still have reservations about her running for office.

I have said this many times and I will say it again ,Being educated does not make you smart !And on the issue of Medina if memory serves me correct I said in the comments that I was taking a look at her. I do not believe that automatically puts me on the campaign trail for her.

But I will ask you this Ralph and be honest. Who would you trust more your neighbor or a slick talker who gives great oration and consistently dissapoints ?

Tony - Great Hub! They are both a pair of clowns, and need to go. Ralph if you look hard enough you will see that the companies you mentioned give more to the left, along with Goldman Sachs and others, (AIG, Fannie Mae, Freddie Mac to name a few) Not to mention GE which gives not only monetary but the air wave support of a biased media network. But Ralph bear in mind the media is owned by the corporations. You think they will bite the hand that feeds them ?

Hmrjmr you are so right about AIG and the like. And may I also say that Freddie is looking for some more money. I am with you , I too am an Independent. And I hold both parties responsible. And from judging what I see on the news I am not alone ! Thanks for dropping by my friend.

That's what I like about you Tony, you can see the events that lead up to the error. The fabric of our society is already embedded with the seeds of corruption and the effect is what we have seen with our politicians and these big corporations. Rangel could have refused the big corporations, and the corporations could have chosen not to do what they did. It comes down to $$ and power and how do they get the biggest bang for their dollar. Ethics, we need to build this concept once again if we are to regain this country.

Now, we are (albeit slowly) starting to wake up and realize we have a mess on our hands. I just hope it's not too late. Keep on ranting, friend. I would rather read your rants anyday than the crap that people are making money from. Like I just wrote about in my hub "More Government Hypocrisy", he is writing our tax codes yet cheating on his taxes. And as many others have mentioned, I would imagine that scum like this person are the rule, and not the exception. As I have said many, many times, the problem is not Republican or Democrat. The problem is POLITICIANS. They have forgotten what their job is, because when the economy was strong and life was good, we put them on autopilot and checked out of the game. Well, guess what folks?
