I love a good political conspiracy theory. I like the pursuit of digging into a good conspiracy and finding the central characters and power brokers behind the scenes orchestrating all the moves that affect our lives even though most of us are completely unaware. Now having said that I also do not buy every UFO , Bigfoot and shadow Government theory that pops up in the news and on the Internet. I do not take all of these theories seriously and do not consider my self part of the tin foil hat crowd.
However every now and again you seem to come across a theory that might actually have some legs under it. And it seems that now we have one that the more you look that it can no longer be ignored. And today I really want to take a good look at George Soros. The name George Soros has been around for quite awhile now. In particular his name has been popping up in the news more so in this decade more then at any time. Especially since 2004 when he was stated as saying he would be willing to give up his entire fortune to get George W Bush out of office. Now I was no fan of Dubya either , and he definitely did some damage. But the thing that strikes me about Soros is the sphere of Influence that this man weilds. And as I keep looking at it , he seems kinda dangerous.

Who is George Soros ?
George Soros was born August 12th 1930. He was born in Budapest Hungary. He emigrated to England in 1947 and graduated from the " London School of Econmics " in 1952. His first job was at a London merchant bank named " Singer and Freidlander " in an entry level position. In 1956 he moved to New York City and worked as an armitrage trader and analyst for a couple of different firms from 1956-1963. In 1970 Soros started amassing his Immense fortune with a hedgefund group he co founded with a man named Jim Rogers that was called the " Quantum Fund ". Obviously George has definitely done his homework over the years because he now has a net worth of 14 Billion now.
This was just a quick synopsis of George here because it is not his personal life that I am interested in as much as his philosophy and Ideology that interest me. Because when you have the cash you call the shots and in spite of who might be in any of our elected offices we all know that the guys with the serious bank are the ones that call the shots for the American public. Some people call this " Shadow Government ". These are considered the people who really run this country not the figureheads that we see on the newschannels. I used to find that kind of thinking laughable from the tin foil hat club , but now it seems I am going to have to take another look because George Soros , this guy has power.
For example George Soros was a member of the council on foreign relations which many believe is the front for one world Government. I also find it interesting that a few more notables on this council include the Association of Radio TV and news analysts , Shirley Temple Black , Michael Bloomberg , John Bolton , William F Buckley , Dick Cheney , Bill Clinton , Katie Couric , Chris Dodd , Dianne Feinstein , Newt Gingrich and a multitude of other power brokers as well as members of the military , other assorted politicians and big business elite and bankers. Do you not find it odd that there is such a mix of people so on the oppisite ends of the political spectrum ? Maybe there is a remote possibility to the theory of one world Government and Big Brother.

And now of course George Soros has a new crusade. A group that is funded by George Soros called FreePress is advocating for an Investigation into talk radio and cable news because they feel that these entities are engaging in hate speech. Surprise ! FreePress is playing the usual hate speech and racist card that all liberal organizations use in order to shut down opposition to their viewpoints. And FreePress is run by a man named Robert McChesney who is already a known Marxist. And I do not believe that you have to speculate to hard on the radio shows and news networks that McChesney is targeting ! And also FreePress policy advisor Ben Scott was named as a policy advisor for innovation at the State Dept of our US Government. Of course you will never hear about any of this from the mainstream media as it would undermine their cause.
There is also a myriad of liberal causes that George Soros favors and he has the ear of all the people who call the shots for us including our President. George Soros met with Barack Obama in his New York offices in 2006 when he was laying the groundwork for his eventual run for the Presidency.Soros had also hosted a fundraiser in 2004 when Obama was to become an Illinois Senator. You don't think George Soros has his ear ? I believe that Soros is his employer not the American people. And judging from the current situation I believe I am not that far off base.
Groups funded by Soros
George Soros also funds other groups besides FreePress and currently there is a total I am aware of that is approximately 80 groups that are using money provided by Soros. And to be fair here there are actually a couple of these groups whose causes I could actually support. However there are far too many that I consider downright dangerous ! Here are a few that I consider really dangerous.
#1- Alliance for Justice - This group engages in activism on the appointment of judges. They consider conservative judges to be extremists !
#2 - The ACLU - This groups track record speaks for itself. And Soros had a hand in getting New Left terrorist Bernadine Dornh to their advisory board.
#3 - Campus Progress - A project funded by the Soros group " Center for American Progress " . This groups sole purpose is to bolster progressive voices on college campuses throughout the USA. And promote new progressive voices in politics. Looks like they already scored one !
#4 - Center for American Progress - A leftist think tank who among the luminaries are the Clintons and John D Podesta.
#5 - National Council of La Raza - Think these guys do not have a leftist agenda ?
#6 - Proteus Fund - This group is strictly for the philanthropy of leftist organizations
#7- The Tides Foundation - Now this is a dangerous group ! The Tides Foundation is based out of San Francisco. And is a strictly leftist organization. Along with Soros , Theresa Heinz Kerry is also one of their biggest supporters and if that is not bad enough they also get grants from our own Government !
So basically if it is a leftist agenda George Soros is all for it. And the main problem here is that he has the ears of all the people who are steering policy currently in our Government. And if you are any type of Democratic hopeful without the endorsement of George Soros you do not have a prayer ! So it has to make you wonder who is really running this country ? And I find it odd that a man who has made the equivalent of a small to mid sized countries net worth hates Capitalism so much. Seems kinda hypocritical to me. He just reminds me of all these Hollywood liberals who fret about the state of the nation and then go home to Beverly Hills and rest up in their villas.

And I know that my title may seem a little crazy, but it seems to me as the Democratic party moves farther to the left George Soros lays and the organizations he supports lay out the game plan for them. There is really not much room for the moderate Democrat anymore although I know they still exist. As for the picture of the Clintons just look on the net. Thank you for dropping in.
No the title is catchy, Tony...it draws people's attention so for that it is good. I meant the real meaning of it...it would be very sad if the President of the most powerful country in the world can be influenced as such...so let me hang to my belief that he isn't not because I particularly like or dislike him but because his decisions are like pebbles..they reverberate through the whole world..There is great responsibility involved.

Now I do not blame all this on the Obama administration as this problem has been around for quite some time. But the thing is with the surge of the information age we can now expose all the corruption and if you will the leaders behind the leaders. I just have to sift through the Information to find out what is credible. And both parties are complicit in who weilds their influence , not just Dems. And you are absolutely right on the fact that decisions made in DC affect the whole world. My question is ,who is making the decisions ?

I'm a stock trader. I have been following George Soros and Jim Rogers for years; first with admiration, then with sorrow to see what George's goals are. If you check out his history a little deeper, you will find that George actually stated that he enjoyed taking the loot he found in Jewish homes after they were sent to the gulags. In other words, he gets a thrill out of profiting from other's misfortunes.

No wonder FreePress is so eager to apply the hate speech label onto conservative talk shows and cable news shows. I don't think I have to name them we all know who they are targeting.

Hi! I'm pleased you linked to my blog on Soros. It seems you and I did the same thing - begin looking into who Soros is and finding he's a centipede with his legs everywhere. It's horrifying.
As I watch what Congress and the President are doing, these 2,000 page bills, one after another, and the czars all weilding their power, I wonder who is doing the work? I keep trying to look at the forest, not just the individual trees, to see what is really going on. Obviously, there's a large picture, a blueprint. And it's not Obama's blueprint - no one man, not even 100 men, could have put this together. Also - Obama never has details, he only talks up a bill in very broad terms. Put that with Pelosi saying we have to pass the bill to know what's in it, and what do we have?

Just as an aside about libs wanting opposition silenced, today I saw that one of my hubs here had been tagged as substandard and in need of revision. Okay, no problem, there had actually only been 17 people to read it, so I just deleted it. The part I find troublesome is that that particular hub had been published SIX MONTHS AGO!!! I guess it only became substandard recently, of course, the title "Why I Love Glenn Beck" surely had NOTHING to do with it being labelled substandard. He and many other power brokers in the financial world particularly banks as well as others globally seem to be the people who are really calling the shots in the modern world. The supposed leaders of today seem to be getting their instructions from these people. And the financial reform package signed into law today has the banking lobbys fingerprints all over it. Tony, Excellent hub. I never thought I was a conspiracy theorist but for the past couple of years I have been reading about Soros and he is evil, and I do think Obama is his puppet. This latest free press BS doesn't surprise me either We have got to stop him is some way, hopefully through the ballot box. It is not a comforting thought that someone with this agenda has so much power.
Wanted to tell you I just wrote another hub about Soros, had been working on it for a while. My first is doing pretty good, compared to others. He is self-admitted to undermining the financial positions of Spain, Georgia, Slvakia, Greece, and Yogslavia. He contends that the USA is the biggest obstacle to security in the world and he hates capitalism. Added Footnote- At Soros' urging, you can count on Hilary Clinton dropping her reservations to running in the VP slot in 2012. Biden is headed south, Hilary will come on board to shore up Obama's relection bid so they can have four more years to beat down the democratic system of America. Then, Hilary will shoot for the job in 2016 to continue the legacy. These are extremely determined people and they will be very hard to stop as long as Soros is willingly throwing money behind their efforts. WB

Tony, maybe I'm not seeing the correlation so help me understand where you are going with this? Soros, came to America and financially succeeded under our capitalist system. With wealth comes influcence and now he used his money to support the then democratic nominee Barack Obama. How is that different than any other wealthy billionaire who supported Obama, or McCain, or whomever will be the next Republican challenger? If you look at Obama's campaign funding, most has come from the exact same sources as the GOP's with the exception of Higher Ed. Higher ed tends to support a lot more democrats. Soros doesn't even show up on the list of top contributors. If you don't want Soros to have influence, you need to talk with your Republican representatives who are not supporting campaign finance reform. Remove money from politics and you break the connection between Soros and Obama (if there even is one)

Nothing to denounce Tony, we are on the same page. I would bet that Obama's investment is both to find more sources of oil other than OPEC and to also pay back on those campaign contributions.
want to make sure everyone reading this is clear that while I despise these actions, they are an everday part of almost all (if not all) members of congress, past presidents, and future presidents until we remove private campaign financing. As long as politicians rely on money to get elected, that type of "payback" system will always exist. It's no differnt than the precisely calculated plan the GOP has pulled off. The GOP always lagged behind Dems in raising money . This past year, that is no longer the case. The GOP convinced the insurance industry, the financial industry, etc, that they could stop reform in exchange for massive contributions. While the GOP did not stop reform, they were successful in weakening the bills. (some Dems are guilty of this as well). Support public financing of compaigns so that politicians will answer to all people and not just the wealthy and the large campaign contributors.
But LRC besides University of California I am sure you are aware that Goldman Sachs was Obamas largest contributor along with a couple of other financial Titans and there were roughly 2000 banking lobbyist that had input on that finance bill of Dodds and Franks.And I am getting less convinced Obama is on the side of the people !
Not that I condone either one but it's one thing to attempt to manipulate the political system for protection of wealth and gain; it is quite another to attempt manipulate it for the purposes of destroying the capitalist system and America along with it. Tony, again on the Goldman Obama comment, Goldman this year has given 680k to Dems and 686k to Republicans. Campaign funding works on both sides of the aisle. McCains top contributors were mostly financial firms. Eithe candidate was going to be 'in debt' to wall street. On the number of lobbyist workign on wall street reform, you are correct. Many were working to kill it or make it less harsh to their companies. Again, I think we are in agreement here, remove money from politics and you have less corruptive influence. However, if you look at the final details of the reform, I will say for all of the lobbying done and the money spent, we have a very decent and dare I say "good" bill in my opinion.
FYI...the GOP argument that Dems are bad for the economy and destroy big business is an interesting take considering big businesses have historically given as much or even more money to Dems than they have to the GOP. Which begs the question, if Dems are bad for big business, why do big businesses help them get re-elected?
Its called covering your bases. I do have to say I agree with Obama on almost nothing. But when he denounced the Supreme Court ruling I agreed. However he should not have done it the way he did. That was a complete lack of class and dare I say grandstanding.

I absolutely agree that Soros, and others like him, have great influence in not just our government, but in many governments around the world. To think these guys DON'T call shots in one form or another would be the naiveté of the century. Money talks. We all know that. And where there is money, there is someone who wants to advocate something. We ALL have an agenda.

I am left leaning,as you know, and I just realized something extraordinary from your research. George Soros agenda appears to be the desire for one world government, like the "FEDERATION" in the STARTREK series. Soros' Mr. Spock seems to be Obama. This is really sort of uncanny if you think of it in that way, however, I always did wish we had an ethical universe that was guided by the prime directive. Margo you are not that far off with that supposition. I know Soros is part of the NWO crowd. And that is what strikes me so strange in regards to liberals. Because liberals were supposed to be the counter culture and in fact anti Government and now most of the liberal crowd are pro Government. What up with that ? The Obama administration approved a $ 2 billion loan to a Brazilian oil company to drill for offshore oil in Brazil that would create jobs in Brazil. It was reported that one of Obama’s campaign donors purchased $ 900 million in stock of that company. Coincidence or simply taking care of friends and associates.
If the Obama moratorium is reinstated, many of the rigs in the gulf would leave the gulf for other parts of the world. One destination was the waters off Brazil. It was reported that some of the platforms are relocating in Brazilian waters. Is there a connection between our government’s actions, Barak Obama’s political backers , a government loan to Brazilian oil companies to drill for oil in Brazil and George Soros’s recent investments in the oil company who received the loan?
If the US don’t pump our own oil, please explain how that takes us off reducing our need for foreign oil. I guess it’s better for this administration to send our jobs overseas to Brazil and the George Soros‘s group. Some say that the Obama moratorium is costing the gulf area economy some 100,000 jobs.
President Obama and the Democrats in Congress continually tell the public that ‘’ we must wean ourselves off the need for foreign oil ‘’. Their idea to place moratoriums on oil drilling and withholding approval of permits to drill simply don’t make a lot of sense. It’s ok to fund foreign companies to drill and hire more workers than to support our workers and companies in the USA.
Congress is considering placing higher taxes on the oil companies which will lead to higher gas prices.Congress needs to save jobs first.

And I am still optimistic that now that the American public has woken up from its decades long slumber we may be able to put a halt to this Government eroding our liberties and micromanaging our lives. Even Congress is conceding their legislative powers to these Czars though. The Dems in Congress better wake up to that.

Very interesting hub and discussion Tony. I have watched Soros for years and he has some great theories like reflexability the way markets work and of course is famous things like making a billion on the British Pound. From there it all seemed to go pear shape there was some terrible decisions where he effectively tried to dictate policy via massive currency plays - he lost money where it failed in may cases - high profile examples were the French Franc and German Deutsche Mark spread and the US Dollar Yen. He lost money the governments were unmoved, He then went quiet and largely became an author and there are some books like globalization which are well worth a read and brings us back to the current point. What he learnt was power was money and finally he found someone he could control and that was the US left wing and your conspiracy isn't far off. I don't agree with the whole new world order thing and really you can't if you believe Soros exercises such control over Obama. That is just my observation. As for conspiracy theories I wrote a hub a bout that Conspiracy theories of conspiracies theories. I also don't think Soros is all evil he did do a lot of good in donating money to the baltic states and Hungary after the wall came down. Now I know people will argue that was part of his agenda. I don't think so personally I think it was a sense of gratitude for the saving of many jewish people per his explanation. In following him I think the whole political things changed when he realized you could buy power and effectively that is what he has done. Anyway that is just my thoughts I am sure plenty will disagree.

Interesting hub and debate. George Soros is a rather more well known name on this side of the pond than in the States and we are on the whole less apprehensive about his political views which find more favour, I suspect, with Europeans. Tho' it is scary to contemplate the power that the seriously rich can wield, I am tempted to be reassured by the fact we do know so much about him and that there is a transparency about (some) of his involvements. I lose sleep over what we don't know and the conspiracies that we cannot even begin to envisage. I do take issue tony0724 with your almost casual reference to him being a "criminal" along with the Clintons and Obama. We use the word criminal in the UK to mean people who commit crimes and not as a term for people whose political views we do not favour.

And I know my perception of judgement of Soros may seem harsh. But it seems to me his employees the Clintons and Obama are complicit to his instructions. Bill Clinton looked the other way while an American defense contractor named Loral Corp sold sensitive missile and nuclear technology to the Chinese and also did not take out Bin Laden when he had the chance. Well Truth first off I must admit I have not really looked much into this case so I do not know much about it. However I have no problem saying I have never been a big problem saying I have not been a big fan of Cheney , and I wish Scooter Libby his good buddy was still in jail. As far as I know Valarie Plame all she did was say what all of us know now that the reasoning behind us going into Iraq was a load of crap. And I remember when they were saying we needed to go into Iraq , I was saying , WTF ? But I am trying to get the relation to this hub.
Speaking of the Titans of short, Goldman Sachs says to remove stimulus is to destroy the recovery. Of course, Republican stimulus is always for the rich, ie, Bush tax cuts. The rich will just sock away the money. Better to tax them and balance the budget.
The Republicans talk out of both sides of their mouths. On the one hand they want pay as you go, but on the other they want tax cuts. Tax cuts do not always result in trickle down, and since Reagan have actually resulted in trickle up. How are they going to pay for these tax cuts? By cutting programs for the poor and middle. That is what got us into trouble in the first place, the destruction of mainstreet and the increased wealth on Wall Street.
bgamall it is so convoluted anymore I am not sure who is telling the truth. But I will not argue the fact the their is a wider gap then there has ever been in the economic classes. And I also think sending all our jobs offshore in order to give better returns to the shareholders did alot of damage too. My biggest beef with this administration is the way they blatantly are going about trying to micromanage every aspect of our lives. It has to stop ! OUR GOVERNMENT IN ACTION TODAY 8/10/10 PASSED A $26 BILLION JOBS BILL. President Obama signed the bill and proclaimed the bill will provide money to keep 140,000 teachers on the job and that the bill was deficit neutral, that’s what he said. Another half truth exposed that you will not see in the mainstream media or press.
The WHOLE truth is that only $10 billion was to go to the teachers (for pensions, our money to pay back union pensions shortfalls ). The other $16 billion is going to states to pay for Medicaid programs going broke in California, New Jersey and New York. So where is the money coming from to make it deficit neutral? The do nothing Republicans lost again, not one of their amendments got to the floor.
Some of it will come from taking away tax loopholes in companies doing business out of the country, it will take 10 years to cover this cost. The government will cut food stamps entitlements, won't happen until 2014. The rest will come from taxing corporations. Sounds like voodoo economics for the next generation and future Congress’s to worry about, again.
The American people are being lied to daily by the administration. The second bubble is near if we don’t wake up and be heard, CONGRESS and OBAMA are incompetent and in bed with special interests daily ( unions and wall street ).

What he says here, is NOT 2nd-hand but 1st. The ramifications are staggering for us, our children and their children.
Last Monday was a profound evening, Dr. Charles Krauthammer spoke to the Center for the American Experiment.. He is a brilliant intellectual, seasoned & articulate. He is forthright and careful in his analysis, and never resorts to emotions or personal insults. He is NOT a fear monger nor an extremist in his comments and views . He is a fiscal conservative, and has received a Pulitzer Prize for writing. He is a frequent contributor to Fox News and writes weekly for the Washington Post.
The entire room was held spellbound during his talk. I have summarized his comments, as we are living in uncharted waters economically and internationally. 1. Mr. Obama is a very intellectual, charming individual. He is not to be underestimated. He is a cool customer who doesn't show his emotions. It's very hard to know what's behind the mask.The taking down of the Clinton dynasty was an amazing accomplishment. The Clintons still do not understand what hit them. Obama was in the perfect place at the perfect time.
2. Obama has political skills comparable to Reagan and Clinton . He has a way of making you think he's on your side, agreeing with your position, while doing the opposite. Pay no attention to what he SAYS; rather, watch what he DOES!
3. Obama has a ruthless quest for power. He did not come to Washington to make something out of himself, but rather to change everything, including dismantling capitalism. He can't be straightforward on his ambitions, as the public would not go along. He has a heavy hand, and wants to level the playing field with income redistribution and punishment to the achievers of society. He would like to model the USA to Great Britain or Canada .
4. His three main goals are to control ENERGY, PUBLIC EDUCATION, and NATIONAL HEALTHCARE by the Federal government. He doesn't care about the auto or financial services industries, but got them as an early bonus. The cap and trade will add costs to everything and stifle growth. Paying for FREE college education is his goal. Most scary is his healthcare program, because if you make it FREE and add 46,000,000 people to a Medicare-type single-payer system, the costs will go through the roof. The only way to control costs is with massive RATIONING of services, like in Canada . God forbid!
5. He has surrounded himself with mostly far-left academic types. No one around him has ever even run a candy store. But they are going to try and run the auto, financial, banking and other industries. This obviously can't work in the long run. Obama is not a socialist; rather he's a far-left secular progressive bent on nothing short of revolution. He ran as a moderate, but will govern from the hard left. Again, watch what he does, not what he says.
6. Obama doesn't really see himself as President of the United States , but more as a ruler over the world.. He sees himself above it all, trying to orchestrate & coordinate various countries and their agendas. He sees moral equivalency in all cultures. His apology tour in Germany and England was a prime example of how he sees America , as an imperialist nation that has been arrogant, rather than a great noble nation that has at times made errors. This is the first President ever who has chastised our allies and appeased our enemies!
7. He is now handing out goodies. He hopes that the bill (and pain) will not come due until after he is reelected in 2012. He would like to blame all problems on Bush from the past, and hopefully his successor in the future. He has a huge ego, and Dr. Krauthammer believes he is a narcissist.
8.. Republicans are in the wilderness for a while, but will emerge strong. Republicans are pining for another Reagan, but there will never be another like him. Krauthammer believes Mitt Romney, Tim Pawlenty & Bobby Jindahl (except for his terrible speech in February) are the future of the party. Newt Gingrich is brilliant, but has baggage. Sarah Palin is sincere and intelligent, but needs to really be seriously boning up on facts and info if she is to be a serious candidate in the future... We need to return to the party of lower taxes, smaller government, personal responsibility, strong national defense, and state's rights.
9. The current level of spending is irresponsible and outrageous. We are spending trillions that we don't have.. This could lead to hyperinflation, depression or worse. No country has ever spent themselves into prosperity. The media is giving Obama, Reid and Pelosi a pass because they love their agenda. But eventually the bill will come due and people will realize the huge bailouts didn't work, nor will the stimulus package.These were trillion-dollar payoffs to Obama's allies, unions and the Congress to placate the left, so he can get support for #4 above.

Krauthammer is one of the most pointed and ruthlessly honest commentators in our world today. I'm surprised he even agrees to be on O'Reilly, who continues to be such an egotist that he fails to let Krauthammer speak fully, and for sure he fails to listen to him. The other programs he is on give him much more of the respect he is due.
And, yes, great hub, rarely a day goes by that I don't hear an expletive in regard to Soros. Yesterday, a hedge fund op announced his withdrawal from the game, and highpoint of this career game was working for Soros. The market collapsed today - I think it was because of this man's public comments as to why he was exiting the frenzy of the market. Money drives US politics (probably global politics)it always has and always will. What the majority of citizens want or need is secondary to what crooked politicians want.
How many people around the world are in Soros's pocket? Is there a degree of envy/hatred towards his particular way of backing politicians (from those who don't have the same power and influence)? I'm not defending Soros ( I remember the day he took a billion pounds out of the UK - in one day -by betting on the monetary exchange rate going a certain way and then he disappeared) but is he not just doing what any other money mad speculator would do to increase his profits and buy off dissenters?

5. Insurance premiums will be increased by 12.4% starting jan.1,2011 due to the healthcare bill.
Wake up America, the mainstream press most likely will not report the above information.

BLAME BUSH FOR THE ECONOMIC PROBLEMS. Past President Clinton recently said that the Democrats and President Obama need more time. What he didn't say was that the Democrats have had control of congress and the economy since 2007 when unemployment was 4.6%. Let’s hope for the best in Nov when the people can decide who should be representing them in congress.
Blame Bush is finally starting to go by the wayside a little bit. But I just hope that people have enough common sense to realize another tax and spend Dem will not be the answer. The 111th Congress is coming to the end without a budget for 2011.When Senator Reid said that he was pulling the $1.2 trillion omnibus spending bill, which was loaded with pork, because he couldn't get the necessary votes to approve it, shocked many on the Democrat side. Maybe change is coming to Congress?

MORE FUZZY MATH after just spending in ONE MONTH ,FEB,A DEFICIT RECORD $222.5 BILLION.

I watched a joint House meeting tonight on C-Span regarding a CR to fund a government extension again. The Senate and the President are just playing a game. Meanwhile the Administration is spending as fast as they can. One Democrat Congressman stated that 2/3 of our government are not doing anything and the other 1/3 is trying to resolve the 2010/2011 budget.
Jon I have no doubt that the Congressman is telling the truth.The spending is enough to spin one's head huh ?
